center for recent possibility

このあいだ、久しぶりに私が修士課程に行ってたNew York UniversityのInteractive Telecommunication Programのサイトみた。ITPの説明の文章、何が専門かわかりにくい私の活動のコアみたいなものを表してるなあ、と思った。
「ITP is a two-year graduate program located in the Tisch School of the Arts whose mission is to explore the imaginative use of communications technologies ― how they might augment, improve, and bring delight and art into people's lives. Perhaps the best way to describe us is as a Center for the Recently Possible. 」。

ITPのサイトには「center for recent possibility」という言葉があって、これは「demo or die」な精神で、実際行動や形にして現実世界で運用していくのは大変なことで。日本のような国だと特に思う。（ITPは100個のうち1つ、未来の革命につながるような何かがみつかればよし、という場所だったし、ニューヨーク自体、そんなpositivenessがベースで、みんなマイペースに生きてる。）でも、そんな中、笑顔で暗中模索してるタフな人たちが日本でがんばってるのを見ると、すごくドキドキする今日このごろ。
